Fasting is a great way of healing our bodies, mind, and soul. Undoubtedly, by keeping fast, a person is able to clean his body, mind, and soul from all the impurities of the world, whether physical or spiritual.

Fasting has been observed as a holy ritual by people throughout time and is lauded for its health and spiritual benefits. You can check some of the amazing Health Benefits of Fasting in Ramadan provided by Bokitta’s pinless hijabs.

In the same way, it has been ordained to the followers of last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) to observe fasting. This can be seen in the light of a verse.

“O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed onto you as it was prescribed onto those before you, that perhaps ye may (learn) self-restraint.” [Surat Al-Baqara, v. 183].

Fasting rules:

1. Abstain from false talks:

It is important for you to abstain from all kinds of false talk and deeds, as they can diminish the reward of keeping a fast. Try not to quarrel or dispute with people around you. It is your duty to behave ethically and morally, especially when you are keeping fast. Avoid every type of discussion that can cause harm to other people.

On the authority of Abu Huraira, The Prophet said,

"Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)”

[Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 31, Fasting, Hadith No: 127]

2. All body parts must fast:

Know that fasting is not just limited to the prohibition of eating food or drinking liquids. But, when you keep fast, the fast should be implemented on all body parts. For instance:

  • Fast of your ear:

Do not hear something that can break your fast. In other words, backbiting in Islam is strictly prohibited. Therefore when you are in the state of fast, it is mandatory for you to avoid backbiting, even listening to it.

  • Fast of your eyes:

Similarly, seeing or watching something that can divert your mind towards negativity is prohibited in Islam. Remember that, in the Holy Quran, there is a great emphasis on protecting eyes from watching anything sinful.

  • Fast of your mind:

Fasting of your mind is controlling your thoughts while you are keeping fast. There are people out there, who have got this misconception that fasting is just related to keeping yourself hungry and thirsty. However, in the true sense, fasting means protecting each and every part of your body from committing any sinful act.

3. No sexual intercourse or contact:

Sexual intercourse or physical contact while keeping fast is prohibited. The significance of this rule is reflected in the following hadith.

On the authority of Abu Huraira, Allah's Apostle said:

"Fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter). So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, 'I am fasting."

[Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 31, Fasting, Hadith No: 118]

Knowing if your skin is oily, dry or sun-damaged can make all the difference when buying products.

However, with the changing of the seasons and the everyday stresses of life, it can sometimes be tricky to pinpoint what your exact skin type is.

It is generally agreed that there are four types of skin: ‘normal’ or well-balanced, dry, oily and combination skin.

To definitively determine your skin type, there are a few different methods you can try including the bare-faced method and the blotting sheet method, both of which are quick and easy ways to find your type.

Knowing what your skin needs is paramount in finding the right products for you and will make crafting your routine much easier on you and your bank account in the long run.

Do Your Research

Spending some time searching the internet for helpful spring skin prep tips can save you from a lot of tedious trial and error - which your skin will thank you for later.

Once you know your skin type, finding the perfect products for you is only a couple of Google searches away.

Looking at the benefits of different vitamins and minerals is a must, with Vitamin E helping to fight signs of stress, Vitamin A essential for preventing breakouts, and Zinc aiding in taming oil production.

A soothing face mask every now and again when your skin is feeling tired can be a godsend, so having a few to hand in your bathroom cupboard can make for a relaxing Friday night.

Craft a Routine That Su You

Not everyone has the time or money to undergo an 18-step beauty regime every morning and night. Luckily, you don’t have to!

Having a few tried and trusted products to turn to when you’re low on time can have just as much of an effect.

If your time is restricted and the kids are kicking up a fuss, simply cleansing, toning, and moisturizing is an easy and effective habit that ensures your skin is feeling balanced and fresh.

Perhaps you want to go all-in and spend some time pampering yourself before bedtime. In that case, the original 10-step Korean skin care regime could be that bit of ‘me time’ you’ve been looking for.

Remember, it’s all about balance! The key is to keep it simple and form a daily habit that you can keep up with.

Starting a new routine can be intimidating but with a little bit of knowledge, you can build the right regimen that suits your needs.

Make sure to be consistent for at least six weeks and you should begin to see results just in time for the spring sunshine.

3 Tips to Avoid Contaminating Your Skin Care Products: Are you Guilty of Being a Double Dipper?

How can we keep our skincare products safe? What causes skincare products to become contaminated and go bad? Is it harmful to use skincare products that have been contaminated or have gone bad? The short answer is no. It is not safe. There is a time to throw out questionable products and purchase new, safer ones. People can take steps to use their skincare products safely without contaminating them accidentally.

Why Do Skincare Products Go Bad?

There are a lot of reasons for skincare products to go bad, including time and contamination by improper use by the consumer. Dipping your fingers in a jar of face cream time after time can lead to contamination, especially if those fingers are not clean. Consider mascara with its wand that touches a person's eyelashes and then is shoved back into its dark, moist container to breed bacteria. The safe thing to do with mascara is to throw it out and replace it every two or three months. Keep it longer and risk eye infections.

It is wise to find out about products in jar and how to use them safely. Constantly dipping fingers in the jar can introduce bacteria. Then, if you use those same fingers to dip into another product, you spread the contamination from product to product. Thicker skincare products are packaged in jars. These can include face masks, cream-based products, moisturizers, facial scrubs, and other products.

Properly formulated products with safe preservatives or emulsifiers are less likely to be contaminated by fingers dipping into them. But, products without preservatives or emulsifiers can be contaminated and won't last longer than a few weeks before they need to be disposed of.

If a person wants to avoid any chance of contamination, they can use small plastic spatulas or cotton swabs to remove the product from the jar. But, if a person cleans their hands before using the product, contamination will not be a problem.

If a person dips fingers in the product, touches their face, and then dips their fingers into the product again (called double-dipping), the skincare product can be contaminated with bacteria, mold, or yeast from the face.

How to Stay Safe

To avoid contaminating skin care products, follow these three tips:

1. If using products in jars, wash your hands thoroughly before dipping them into the product. Your face should also be washed and clean.

2. Use those little spatulas or cotton swabs to remove a skincare product from the jar, and never double-dip.

3. Consider using products that come in containers that let you remove the product without dipping your fingers into the container. Tubes or bottles that let you squeeze the proper amount into your hands are good.

Don't Keep Products Too Long

Another cause of products going bad is keeping them too long. If a product begins to separate, change color, or smell funny, get rid of it. Purchase skin care products with use-by dates on them, and discard them after that date. Only using safe, fresh products on your skin is an important consideration. Keeping products only until their use-by date and avoiding dipping dirty fingers into them will go a long way toward avoiding contamination of the skincare products.

Purchasing good-quality products with the correct formulas and safe preservatives also help to have safe skincare products.
